Chelsea FC demonstrated their attacking prowess with a resounding 5-1 victory over AFC Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge. The Blues took an early lead, with Jordan Henderson scoring within the first three minutes, followed swiftly by a goal from Morgan Rogers. This rapid start set the tone for the match, leaving Bournemouth struggling to keep pace.
Despite facing challenges, including a previous 3-0 defeat to Brentford in September, Chelsea's title aspirations were back on track. Joao Pedro netted twice, and Henderson added a second goal, contributing to the impressive scoreline. While Emi Martinez was unable to secure a clean sheet due to a goal from Evanilson, the team's overall performance was strong.
The article suggests that Chelsea's lack of European competition this season may provide them with more time for preparation and recovery, potentially aiding their push for qualifying places by May. The team's discipline was evident, with Bournemouth receiving four yellow cards while Chelsea remained unbooked.
Jordan Henderson, named surprise man of the match, celebrated his second goal from a well-executed free-kick routine by immediately acknowledging set-piece coach Austin MacPhee, highlighting the importance of tactical preparation under manager Enzo Maresca.
This marked a return to swift lead-taking for Chelsea, a habit that had been less common under previous management. The team's next fixture is an away match against Everton on Saturday lunchtime.
