The men's team secured a vital three points in a tough encounter against previously unbeaten Everton, despite a bruising contest that saw goalkeeper Emi Martinez hospitalised. The women's team, meanwhile, were involved in an eight-goal thriller at Stamford Bridge, with several goals being contenders for goal of the season.
The men's side travelled to the Hill Dickinson stadium for their Saturday lunchtime kick-off. After weathering a strong first-half assault from their opponents, which saw five players booked in just 30 minutes, Pedro Neto scored twice to secure the win. Crucially, Chelsea also achieved their first clean sheet since January, setting a positive tone for their upcoming match against Spurs.
Emi Martinez was stretchered off in the second half following a collision with Jarrad Branthwaite. He has undergone surgery for a fractured jaw and is expected to miss the next six weeks.
Chelsea Women faced Tottenham Hotspur Women at Stamford Bridge on Sunday lunchtime. After a closely contested first half ended with the teams level at 1-1, the Blues dominated the second half, surging to a 6-2 victory. Both Lauren James and Ellie Carpenter scored twice.
A standout moment came in the dying minutes from Maika Hamano, who unleashed an astonishing long-range shot that found the back of the net. Despite a momentary lapse in concentration immediately after, allowing Tottenham to score from the restart, Carpenter sealed the 6-2 victory with a late goal.
The women's team will visit Crystal Palace next weekend, followed by a Champions League fixture at home against Roma.
