A new volunteer business mentor scheme has been launched in Bromley, connecting experienced professionals with local entrepreneurs and small businesses to foster growth and success.

Experienced professionals are being sought to volunteer as mentors for a new scheme in Bromley, aimed at supporting local entrepreneurs, start-ups, and small businesses. The initiative is a partnership between Opportunity Bromley and Bromley Council.
Local businesses seeking guidance to expand are invited to apply as mentees. They will be paired with experienced local business owners or retired professionals who will share their knowledge for a few hours each month. Mentors will help businesses overcome challenges and barriers to growth.
Participants will have the opportunity to expand their professional networks and acquire new skills, including mentoring and leadership. Councillor Yvonne Bear, Bromley’s Executive Councillor for Renewal, Recreation and Housing, stated, “Sometimes the right advice at the right time can make all the difference for an entrepreneur looking to take their business to the next level. That’s why this scheme has been set up so that the wealth of professional experience we have across the borough can be connected to aspiring businesses, which helps to ensure our local economy continues to thrive.”
Mentors will offer support in areas such as business planning, sales and marketing, finance, cashflow, and growth strategies. Participants are expected to commit around 2 to 3 hours per month over a six-month period, with matches carefully made to maximise partnership value.
Further information, including how to register as a mentor or mentee, is available online via Opportunity Bromley.
