The annual Poppy Appeal has launched across Haringey, with Councillor Barnes urging residents to honour the courage and sacrifice of service personnel.

The Poppy Appeal, which runs until Remembrance Day, raises funds for the Royal British Legion’s welfare and benevolent work supporting serving and ex-service people and their families. Poppies and donation boxes are available in Haringey’s libraries and at the reception desks of Alexandra House and George Meehan House.
Councillor Barnes stated, “I am proud to wear a poppy and support the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal. As Remembrance Day approaches, I encourage residents across Haringey to join me in honouring the courage, service and sacrifice of the men and women who have served our country, as well as those serving today and those who gave their lives in the line of duty. Wearing a poppy is a simple but powerful way to remember their contribution, show our gratitude, and support veterans and their families. Together, we can ensure that their service and sacrifice are never forgotten.”
Residents are invited to attend one of the borough’s Remembrance services. Services will be held on Remembrance Sunday, 8 November, at various locations including Wood Green War Memorial at 10:40am and Tottenham War Memorial at 10:45am. A service at Holy Trinity Church in Tottenham will precede the latter. Other services include one at Hornsey War Memorial at 9:45am and at West Green War Memorial at 2:30pm, followed by an event at St Saviours Court at 3:00pm.
On Wednesday, 11 November, local schoolchildren, clergy, and residents will gather at the War Memorial in the Garden of Remembrance at Tottenham Cemetery at 10:45am.
