On World Mental Health Day, South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust is raising awareness of the vital support services available across South West London for those in need.

This World Mental Health Day, individuals in South West London are reminded of the comprehensive mental health support services accessible for themselves or others. Whether seeking help for general wellbeing or requiring urgent assistance, a range of services are available to ensure timely and appropriate care.
The South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust is spearheading the 'Know who to turn to' campaign to highlight these resources. Trust Chief Executive, Vanessa Ford MBE, emphasised the importance of early intervention, stating, "We want everyone in South West London to know who to turn for support as early as possible. Mental health problems are often easier to overcome when people get help before they reach crisis point."
Ford added, "We know how difficult it can be to prioritise your own mental health and wellbeing, and that there never seems to be a right time to seek help. However, reaching out early can make a real difference. If you’re struggling, don’t wait. It could be the first step towards getting the support you need."
Local communities, healthcare partners, and organisations are encouraged to disseminate information about these services. The Trust provides a 'Know who to turn to toolkit' with free digital and printable resources to aid in finding the right support.
Key services highlighted include NHS Talking Therapies for conditions such as depression, anxiety, and stress, accessible via GP referral or self-referral online. Every Mind Matters offers free NHS advice and a personalised 'Mind Plan' tool. A directory of local voluntary and community sector organisations across Kingston, Merton, Richmond, Sutton, and Wandsworth is also available, with an option to register organisations via a dedicated form.
For urgent support, individuals can call NHS 111 and select the mental health option, available 24/7 for all ages. The South London Crisis Text Service offers support via WhatsApp or by messaging 0303 330 1511. Recovery Cafés provide free walk-in spaces for adults experiencing mental health difficulties or at risk of crisis.
Children and young people can access the South London CAMHS Crisis Line by calling 0203 228 5980 between 9am and 11pm daily, or NHS 111 outside these hours. Those over 16 can also use the online support service Togetherall. In emergencies where life is at immediate risk, the public should call 999 or visit their nearest A&E.
