Community groups and local organisations across Wandsworth can now apply for small grants to fund practical environmental actions in their communities, with the first round of applications closing on 27 November.

The Greener Wandsworth Microgrants programme has opened, offering funding to residents who wish to implement ideas for a greener and more resilient borough. The initiative aims to build upon the existing commitment to environmental action within the community.
Grants ranging from £100 to £500 are available to individuals, community groups, schools, and non-profit organisations residing or working in Wandsworth. Eligible projects must contribute to areas such as improving community spaces, supporting biodiversity, enhancing community resilience to climate impacts like flooding and heatwaves, promoting repair and waste reduction, or providing environmental education.
Councillor Ethan Brooks, Cabinet Member for Environment, highlighted the borough's active community of environmental champions. He stated, “Wandsworth has a lively ecosystem of residents, volunteers and community organisations championing a greener borough. The wide range of community-led events held during Sustainable September showed the enthusiasm, knowledge and creativity that local people bring to this work. We thank everyone who took part and continues to make a difference in their neighbourhood.“
Councillor Brooks added, “The Greener Wandsworth Microgrants are designed to further stimulate creativity and community around this important issue and help turn residents’ good ideas into practical action, we look forward to seeing the great initiatives people come up with.”
Further guidance on eligibility, funding details, and the application assessment process can be found on the Greener Wandsworth Microgrants page. Additional funding rounds are planned for 2027.
