Wandsworth Council is hosting a public event on Tuesday 10 November for residents to learn about Heathrow Airport's proposals for a third runway and to ensure local voices are heard.

The council-organised event aims to provide Wandsworth residents with an opportunity to understand the implications of Heathrow Airport’s expansion plans. The views and concerns gathered will directly inform the council's official response to the ongoing consultation.
Wandsworth Council has stated its firm opposition to the expansion, citing concerns over increased noise, disturbed sleep, and wider environmental and transport pressures. The council highlighted that Heathrow's own data recorded an average of 437 overflights a day in Battersea in mid-August 2026.
Cllr Robert Morritt, Leader of Wandsworth Council, expressed disappointment that local residents were not included in Heathrow Airport’s own consultation events. He stated, “Expansion of Heathrow would have a substantial impact on people’s lives – so we’re standing up for Wandsworth residents whose homes, health and quality of life could be directly affected by these proposals.” He also referenced comments from 2019 by the current Prime Minister, who was reportedly against a third runway at Heathrow.
The event, scheduled from 6:30pm to 8pm at All Saints Church, Putney Common, Putney, SW15 1HL, will feature a panel discussion covering aircraft noise, flight respite, night flying, air quality, transport, and climate impacts. Fleur Anderson, MP for Putney, is also expected to attend.
Heathrow Airport Ltd’s consultation on the proposed third runway and associated infrastructure runs until 22 December 2026. No planning permission for the runway has yet been granted.
