Wandsworth is urging residents to take the first step towards a smoke-free life this Stoptober, offering free, tailored support services with a success rate higher than the England average.

The London Borough of Wandsworth is highlighting the immediate health and financial benefits of quitting smoking as part of its Stoptober campaign. The council is promoting accessible support services designed to help residents achieve a smoke-free life.
The Wandsworth Stop Smoking Service has a proven track record, with 57 per cent of participants successfully quitting, a rate exceeding the national average. Support includes free, personalised assistance from professional advisors, available both in person and over the phone. Nicotine replacement therapies and vaping cessation aids are also offered, significantly increasing the likelihood of quitting for good.
Councillor Daniel Ghossain, Cabinet Member for Public Health, stated: "Quitting smoking is one of the best ways to improve your health and wellbeing. We would encourage as many people as possible to access the wonderful stop smoking services available in Wandsworth."
Residents seeking to quit can access personalised support by calling the 24/7 freephone number 0800 088 7550, emailing StopSmokingteam@wandsworth.gov.uk, or visiting the council's website.
As part of the campaign, the Stop Smoking Service team will be hosting a free Health Pop-up at Roehampton Library on Wednesday 21 October, from 10am to 4pm. Located at 2 Danebury Avenue, the pop-up will offer stop smoking support, NHS Health Checks, flu and COVID vaccinations, blood pressure checks, general health advice, and employment support, with no appointment necessary.
