The council is looking to improve the standard of its council homes and wants to hear directly from residents about their priorities, how they wish to engage with housing services, and the best communication methods. This initiative is part of the Housing Improvement and Transformation (HIT) Plan, which focuses on enhancing home standards, including fire and electrical safety, and addressing issues like damp and mould.
Resident feedback from the survey will inform and shape a new Resident Engagement Strategy. Those interested in co-designing the new approach can register their interest for future workshops.
The improvement plan was established in 2025 following an inspection by the Regulator of Social Housing, which highlighted the need for improvements to ensure homes are safe, compliant with health and safety legislation, and for the council to be more transparent and accountable.
Work will be overseen by the new HIT Board, comprising residents, councillors, and senior officers. A dedicated Housing Directorate will ensure a direct line of accountability from frontline services to senior council leaders, ensuring residents' real-life experiences inform council decisions.
“"Our tenants and leaseholders deserve homes that are safe, well maintained and managed by a service that listens and acts. The Housing Improvement and Transformation Plan is about making sure residents’ voices are at the centre of this work. This survey is crucial to help us focus on the issues that matter most to them. If you are a Wandsworth tenant or leaseholder, please fill out the survey today."
