This development is one of several affordable council housing schemes in the borough that are either underway or nearing completion. These include new homes in Arnal Crescent, Wandsworth, Aubyn and Toland Squares in Roehampton, and the Alders Garages in Tooting.
Two major regeneration projects in the borough will also deliver hundreds of new homes. At the Winstanley and York Road estates in Battersea, over 125 homes are planned. On the Alton estate in Roehampton, the demolition of the derelict Block A is paving the way for new homes and community spaces.
The council is collaborating with developers, partners, and external investors to bring forward new development schemes that benefit local communities. Alongside new home construction, efforts are being made to improve standards in existing council homes.
A new Housing Directorate, led by an Executive Director, will focus on enhancing Wandsworth’s housing management and landlord services. This includes strengthening homelessness prevention, temporary accommodation, and the delivery of new housing across the borough.
The directorate will also oversee the Housing Improvement and Transformation Plan, part of the council’s commitment to giving residents a greater say in improving housing services. More robust action is being taken against anti-social behaviour in housing blocks, with a recent eviction of a tenant on the Lennox Estate for criminal activity.
