Havering Council has issued an update regarding the proposed industrial action by FCC waste management staff, urging residents to present waste as usual while contingency plans are in place.

Councillor Martynas Cekavicius, Cabinet Member for Public Realm, stated that FCC is continuing discussions with Unite in an effort to avert the proposed industrial action scheduled for next week.
While some resolutions are long-term, FCC is working on interim measures to provide assurances to staff regarding workload concerns. Should members proceed with industrial action, FCC has developed a contingency plan to minimise disruption to Havering residents.
Residents are currently instructed to present their waste as usual. However, they are encouraged to monitor the Council's website and social media channels for further updates.
Havering Council will continue to advocate for a compromise between FCC and Unite at the negotiating table to prevent industrial action.
