The Royal Borough of Greenwich is developing its Housing and Homelessness Strategy, a blueprint for key housing commitments up to 2032, with a vision for everyone in the borough to have a safe, secure, and affordable place to live. The strategy also aims to provide support for residents at all life stages, including the elderly, those experiencing homelessness, individuals with disabilities, and those requiring supported housing.
The strategy will be shaped by resident input, strategic planning, and insights from the forthcoming Local Plan. Key elements of the draft commitments focus on tackling homelessness and ending rough sleeping, supporting individuals with specific housing needs, ensuring safe and sustainable homes, and building resilient communities and neighbourhoods.
Councillor Jackie Smith, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Housing, Greenwich Build and Estate Regeneration, stated, "Everyone deserves a safe, secure and affordable place to call home. Our Housing and Homelessness Strategy will set the direction for housing in the borough over the next five years, helping us meet the challenges we face today while planning for the future." She encouraged all residents to participate in the consultation.
Feedback from residents, along with input from the Intermediate Housing consultation and the draft Local Plan, will be incorporated into the final strategy, scheduled for publication in early 2027. Residents can provide their views via an online survey, email, phone, or in writing to the Housing Strategy and Policy Team at The Woolwich Centre.
The consultation is open until 11:59 pm on 20 December. Printed copies are available from any borough library.
